We are sad to announce the passing of Tim Howard on the morning of Friday 6th December.

Tim was a Civil Engineer and long term member of the Club starting in the 1985 / 86 season when his sons Jeremy and John came to play for the minis.

Tim remained an active member of the Age Group helping to coach and organise them all the way up to U18. He was heavily involved in enabling the first oversees tour of a Junior Age group with the U14 going to Dublin and playing Tenemure and a subsequent year to Edinburgh.

He teamed up with the famous Peter Britten to arrange pre league game lunches and was a frequent attendee.

Tim remained active at the Club even when his sons no longer played and always made a telling contribution. He was pleased to see his Grandson also playing rugby for the club in recent times up to the U16 Age group.

He started the club shop in the present location after the fire in 2004 ,enabling the purchase of club playing kit for all age groups plus Coats, Beanie Hats, and anything the members may need. He was able to persuade various ladies to help to sell the stock on a Sunday morning and encouraged a successful service for the Club. His mantra was always to have good quality although with an eye on value for money.

We will miss his good humour and his ability to find a solution for any problem and thank him for his 30 years service to Effingham and Leatherhead RFC.

Our condolences go to his 2 sons, Jeremy and John, his Grandson Luke and his wife Val who was also a frequent visitor and contributor to the club.

The funeral details are;

Leatherhead Crematorium on 2nd January at 3.30 followed by a farewell at Clandon Regis Golf Club.
