Welcome to Eagles Rugby
Eagles Rugby is one of the most friendly and best supported teams in Surrey. The club offers rugby for all ages and levels of experience, from Rugby Tots at the tender age of 2-5 to our ‘senior pro’s’ still plying their trade in the veterans matches all guided by Director of Rugby Tony “Robbo” Robinson (ex-Saracens and London Scottish player but a very long time ago!)
Based in the magnificent, picturesque surroundings of King George V Playing Fields, Effingham, our senior section produce competitive teams within a fun and inclusive socially charged environment.
As 1st XV Head Coach, Dan Leek ( Playing days spent at Wasps & London Scottish) has driven the change in ethos at senior level which has resulted in a welcoming player centred approach. Dan is ably assisted in coaching our senior sides by a strong coaching set-up, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge & experience to all training sessions.
Many of the players have come through the junior ranks of the club which is clearly a vital breeding ground in developing future talent. A number of the senior players and coaches actively help out with the junior age groups to encourage the same ethos throughout the club.
Senior training takes place twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30 – 9pm with the clubhouse open for food and refreshments afterwards. We have a fully stocked physio room and our resident physio, Anghy is available on Tuesdays from 6.30-9.00pm to the whole club.
Eagles’ thriving Touch Rugby group trains throughout the year on Wednesday evening throughout the year from 6.30pm. Come down and try it for males and females over the age of 16 – all welcome!
Our minis and junior sections train each Sunday from 10am – 12 o’clock with some festivals and matches lasting a little longer into the afternoon. We can offer excellent food and refreshments which are available all morning and into the afternoon.
This exciting and motivated club is looking for new players at all ages and abilities, sponsors and social members to capitalise on their achievements to date, and to continue their progress on and off the field. The club plays hard on the pitch and enjoy a great social time after matches and at our frequent club socials. All standards of players are welcome and come down and give it a go as everyone will make you feel welcome.
