Last Saturday the Eagles entertained Cranleigh to a practice match which went well. The Eagles had 25 players available and it was good to see 5 lads who had come up from the Colts section. There were still a number of 1st XV regulars missing but most will be back for the first league match. Eagles scored four tries through an opening try by Joe Blunt and a hattrick by James Bridge. Three successful conversions were added by Sam Manning with the other two points from the boot of Joe Blunt. Final score 28-24 Eagles.
There will be no senior rugby at Browns Lane on Saturday, 30th August. The senior section is on tour to the West Country and plays Combe Down on their travels. One wonders if they will have a chance to see the sights of historic Bath?
Why not watch at our Club the England Ladies’ team who play Samoa in the Rugby World Cup – kick off 5 p.m. (Editor: Check out On Screen Womens RWC – ENG v SAM for details)
Will England score more than 100 points? We also have our Girls sessions and Ladies touch rugby at the club for those seeking some live rugby.
I take this opportunity to advise you of our first league match on 6th September against Old Johnians to be played at St. John’s School. A game not to be missed.
