A firecracker of a game saw Kingston finally kill off their opponents with 2 late scores which did not reflect the tightness of the encounter.

Effingham came out of the blocks rapidly and immediately spun the ball wide to flying winger James Bridge who cut inside his man and advanced into the twenty two. From there 2 mini rucks were formed creating quick ball and then a lovely angle from number 8 Ben Tame saw him charge over the line for an unconverted try.

Kingston, who are vying for promotion, came back strongly besieging the Effingham line and ill discipline from the away side, where 4 penalties were conceded in quick succession resulted in the Kingston winger going over in the corner. Moments later they got their second when the same winger scooted around the defence to dot down controversially as he appeared to have his legs in touch. The conversion was good to make to 12-5.

With seconds remaining until half time Effingham struck again when the Kingston line was pummelled by the hard carrying Effingham forwards and eventually prop Louis Kaspain barged his way over. The conversion was missed and the score at half time was 12-10 to Kingston.

Tactical errors from Effingham saw then fail to clear their lines at the beginning of the second half and this gifted Kingston territory, and being a top 3 side they pounced, with the opening try of the second half which was converted by the excellent fly half who kicked beautifully all afternoon and only failed with 1 conversion.

Effingham came back and once again the forwards pounded forward laying siege to the Kingston line and eventually hooker Sam Hawkins went over for the score which was converted by full back Matt Johnson. The score was now 19-17 to Kingston going into the final quarter and the home teams experience proved crucial when a lovely back line move saw the ball moved wide through some slick handling and the full back went in at the corner. Moments later a missed tackle in the Effingham midfield allowed the Kingston captain to burn over for the score which was converted making it 33-17.
