Effingham hosted Cobham in a long awaited rematch of the 2016 Waterfall Cup Final. Cobham were the last team to beat our 1st team 2 years ago. This time it was in the new Quins cup and we were playing at home in good weather conditions.
Effingham showed their intent in the first half with complete domination of territory and possession, reflected by the 21-0 score at half time. Tries from Harry Condliffe on the wing, a steal in the tackle and try for centre Harry Gray, and a conversion of repeated pick and drives, with Joe Butler (8) crossing the line. All tries converted by fullback Harry Campbell.
In the second half we agreed to uncontested scrums to give Cobham a chance of competing from set pieces. Despite this we crossed the line through winger Al Reed after several phases of play, then a sensational try from Fin Winter to score under the posts. Converted of course.
In the final 5 minutes we conceded a consolation try which we can forgive as the game was dead and we had the bonus point. Final score 33-5
