A frantic last 5 minutes saw Effingham score 2 converted tries to overturn a 10 point deficit.
Great conditions for rugby saw Law society take an early lead with 2 tries within the first 15 minutes, but Effingham struck back when a line out drive saw hooker Sam Hawkins smuggle over for an unconverted try. 12 – 5 was the half time score but then the match caught fire in the second half. Early Eagles pressure led to a Tom Durbridge penalty but the Law struck back with their own catch and drive try swiftly followed by a penalty. Effingham came roaring back and cheered on by the partisan crowd the ball was moved right then left before vice skipper Sam Maycock went over to narrow the gap to 5 points.
Indiscipline again cost the home side 3 points which saw the Law take a 23 – 15 lead going into the last 20 minutes. Effingham came again with wave after wave of attacks and finally skipper Matt Manning crossed in the corner to narrow the gap again to 3. The Law kept up the fight to score a converted try when their scrum half scored down the blind side and the try was converted to take them into a 10 point lead.
Skipper Matt manning implored his side to continue the fight and from the kick off the ball fell into the arms of winger AJ Manning, who burst through up to the 5 meter line and then off loaded to ever present flanker George Stuttard who scored by the sticks. Durbridge converted and it was game on. The restart was taken by the Eagles and a barn storming run by centre Charlie Blunt then saw the ball moved to full back Jo Triegaardt who still had a lot to do. He swerved outside the winger and then with the full back in his sights he easily rounded him to score under the sticks in a blistering turn of speed. Durbridge again converted.
The Law were not done and with the clock in the red they had an attacking 5 metre line out which moved towards and over the Effingham goal line only for Eagles number 8, James Kelly to get through the maul and stop the certain try.
